Opening night

October 12th, 2007

This Sunday gone was Mosaic’s first public gathering. It was a big step for us. For the first three of these monthly gatherings we’re going through a series we’re calling ‘Heroes‘. And we were really pleased with how this first one went.

It was held in a great venue called the Urban Deli, right in the centre of Sheffield. We had around 25 people show up and within that there were amazingly 8 or 9 different nationalities. The evening was a mix of music, film, conversation, and some FABULOUS cakes!

We had a few technical issues, but by and large we were really pleased with how the night went. It felt like a significant step for us and we’re excited to see how things unfold.

If you want to listen to the podcast from the night, you can do that here.

Here’s a few pictures from the night taken by our very own photographer, Liam Dangerfield:

We have a lounge!

October 4th, 2007

After months without a lounge due to lots of work that had to be done, we are now pretty much there. The carpet went down on Monday and other than a few things like the curtains still to go up, we’re done!

It’s been a busy summer all in all, but its nice to start to feel like we finally have a house we can properly start living in and having people round to.

Here’s some of the latest house pics:

Mosaic launches monthly gathering

September 17th, 2007

This October will see the first public gathering of Mosaic. Since starting with three of us in June last year, we’ve now reached a point where hosting something in a public space feels like the right next step. So October will see the start of a monthly gathering, the first three of which will be around the theme of ‘Heroes’. Check out the flyer below.

Next January a team of us from Mosaic are going out to Johannesburg to serve with Oasis South Africa. Here’s a flyer we’ve just created to help raise awareness and funds for the trip.

Cheap labour

September 6th, 2007

We have quite a tight deadline to get our lounge decorated in time for the next bit of work we’re having done shortly. I’ve had to rest though as my back is not feeling right after the crash on Tuesday. Thanks to Helen, Cathy, Isaac, and Natalie from our community though we have been able to stay on track. They are volunteering their time in exchange for tea and cake. What more could you want?!

Here’s a few pics from this evening:

Crash

September 5th, 2007

I managed to crash my car last night. Nothing too serious in terms of me or anyone else being hurt (though my back isn’t great), but my car has been declared as written off.

Oh the joys.

Three years of wedded…

August 29th, 2007

…BLISS (of course!)

This Monday just gone was our third wedding anniversary. How time flies! We spent the day at Alton Towers, which is probably Britain’s best theme park. It was lots of fun! (Check out the pics below).

I can’t quite believe we’ve already been married for three years. In some senses it feels like we’ve been married forever (in a good way!), and in others it doesn’t feel possible that its already three years. I feel so blessed to have Rachel in my life though. She is definitely a gift from God. My life is so much richer for her being part of it and I’m so excited about all that lies ahead for us.

Anyway…a few pics from our day out:

This was the picture of us on the incredibly fast ride that is ‘Rita’. 0 - 100 in 2.5 seconds. Very cool!

Nearly there (with the bedroom at least)

August 25th, 2007

Rachel is away this weekend (well until lunchtime tomorrow) and my dad came up today to help put some wallpaper on one wall in our bedroom. Now all we have to do is paint that wall and then we’re pretty much there with our room. It’ll be soooo good to have a bit more space!

We put a curtain rail up in the room today as well which ended up nearly taking as long as the wallpapering due to the problems with old houses not being remotely level! (And me making a bit of a bodge with my first use of a drill!!)

Here’s a few pics from today:
