hi sam. you have two of bob roberts down on your list - can you tell me one good thing about his writing?

did you get a copy of eric bryant’s book when you were in the states earlier this month? amazon is only allowing me to pre-order this at the moment.

i’ve got ’sex god’ on my “to read” list too.

i ought to have said i’m asking for one good thing about bob robert’s writing only because i haven’t read anything from him before and i have so many book on my “to read” list that i thought to ask this.

Yeah…I don’t think Eric’s book is out until June officially. I got a few copies for our team whilst I was in LA.

I hadn’t even heard of Bob Roberts until I was in LA when he was one of the speakers at Ethos. I’ve only read Transformation so far which I really enjoyed. He has a great heart for globally minded local churches which really resonates with me. Also a strong emphasis on how it will take transformed people to transform the world.

I don’t think it would hit my “must read” category, but I would recommend it.

I enjoyed Sex God. Good stuff, but probably not as significant a book as Velvet Elvis.

He is my favourite preacher, absolutely out of control!

    And John maxwell…and Joyce meyer?
    They all sound interesting…

I LOVE listening to TD Jakes preach…awesome. I went to a leadership conference at his church in Dallas in 2002 and that was a LOT of fun! I’ve not started the book yet though. I really enjoyed his book “Maximise the Moment” though and also “He-Motions”. He can veer a bit too far towards excessive focus on money/material blessings sometimes (though not nearly as bad as a lot of them!), but says a lot of really good stuff too.

The John Maxwell book is really good. It sits really nicely as a tie in with the StrengthsFinder books and actually refers to that and intentionally builds on it.

TD Jakes and Joyce Meyer are about the only two TV personalities which I enjoy a lot of what they say. And Joyce’s book on prayer is actually really quite refreshing. I’m about half-way through and its got some really good and practical stuff to say. I love the huge emphasis on freeing people from all the guilt that so often builds with prayer as well as the religiosity. Some good stuff.

Hi there. Thanks for this latest list.

One of the books I’m reading is ‘Off-Road Disciplines’ by Earl Creps. Creps is suggesting some new disciplines necessary to being missional today, moving us beyond techniques, programmes, and “bolt-ons”.
