Book club, illness & pancakes

We had our first book club of 2007 last night and it went really well again. There were just over 20 of us there discussing The Time Travellers Wife. I was amazed at the number of different nationalities represented there too. I think we had people from Mexico, Greece, South Africa, Nigeria, America, and the UK there.

Unfortunately I wasn’t feeling too well, I’ve had some kind of tummy bug both yesterday and today. I think it must be a virus or something as apparently there’s lots of people off work at the moment with the same thing.

I’m looking forward to next month’s book club as we’re reading one of my favourite books. It’s The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It’s also been turned into a theatre production which is coming to Sheffield in April so we’re planning to go along to that too.

Today is actually Shrove Tuesday, though I always forget that that’s what it is actually called as I tend to know it more as “Pancake Day”. I love pancakes, but am just hoping I feel well enough to try and eat at least one! Anyone elso going to be eating pancakes? And what’s your favourite filling?!

It’s Pancake Day here in the States as well. In fact, a breakfast restaurant here named IHOP (International House of Pancakes) is giving away free pancakes from 7a to 10p.

They are asking for a small donation to the Children’s Miracle Network to cover costs - but still - free pancakes.

Hmmm, not sure why blogs aren’t showing up. I’ve started using FeedBurner and I’ve noticed that the feed shows up slower but they’ve still showed up. I’ll keep an eye on it. Thanks for letting me know!

I’ve never heard of pancake day!! Though, we did happen to have pancakes for lunch today…a belated valentine’s party, so we had all pink and red foods, including making our pancakes pink. The only thing I know today as is “fasnacht day” (donuts). I had one of those this morning too, so either way, I guess I’m covered!

I’m sorry you’re not feeling well, but I’d sure like a pancake. If you’re not about to pass out, could you please make me one with chocolate chips and express ship it over? Thanks, that would really brighten my day :)

    Get better!
