Introduction
Maximise our talents and “make God chuckle”
5 ways we can leave our mark:
Be missional (Matthew 28:18-20; Romans 8:18-23; Mark 10:42-45)
- Joining God’s mission - we are co-missioned
- Redeeming creation (not just mankind)
- Living our lives for others, seeing our whole lives through God’s purposes
- Focus on the things that matter most to God (the poor, broken, needy & hurting, justice, creation, etc)
Be welcoming (Luke 15:1-8; Acts 2:42-47; Acts 4:33-35)
- Creating a sense of community wherever we are (people need to belong)
- Being inclusive (everyone & anyone welcome)
- Help people feel at home
- Always going after the one, inviting the outsider
- Meeting the needs of everyone
- Capture a vision for our homes as hubs around which community forms
“Home is ultimately not about a place to live but about people with whom you are most fully alive. Home is about love, relationship, community, and belonging, and we are all searching for home.
Be involved (1 Peter 4:7-11; Romans 12:3-8; 2 Timothy 1:6-8; Romans 12:12-31)
- Following Christ is a call to action (no passive church attendance)
- Our gifts and talents are given so that we serve others with them (called to serve, not attend services)
- Serve others, with others (we need the diversity of each others gifts and talents to be most effective)
- Don’t hold back with false humility
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us. It is not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And, as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

Be relevant (John 5:19; Mark 1:35; Acts 2:42; 2 Timothy 3:16; 1 Corinthians 9:19-23)
- Our communion with God is key to our communicating with culture
- We encounter God in order that we can encounter culture
- Our relationship with God needs to be rich (prayer, Scriptures, thanksgiving, etc)
- If our walks with God don’t translate to those who don’t know God, we become irrelevant.
Be transformed (Romans 12:1-2; Ephesians 4:17-24; Matthew 5:13-16)
- God wants to transform our character
- We need to cooperate with God allowing Him to change us from the inside out
- Broken, self-absorbed people don’t change the world; whole people do (51% - give more than take)

it was good to hear your community talking…even if sometimes I couldn’t hear what was being said…I just loved it when the group would erupt in laughter!

Glad you both enjoyed listening. Laughter does tend to be somewhat common place when we’re together!
