We’re go with the Ryder Cup!

I’ve been driving quite a bit this morning and so have been able to listen to the first few holes of The Ryder Cup - one of golf’s biggest tournaments. I love the Ryder Cup. It turns a highly individualistic sport into an amazing team competition. There seems to be and edge to it that no other golf tournament is able to generate. There are over 40,000 people following just 4 golf matches meaning that there are 10,000 around everyone of the holes. It creates and amazing atmosphere. I’d love to be there!

This years Ryder Cup also seems to have an extra emotion edge to it with Darren Clarke playing for the Europeans just one month after the death of his wife to cancer. I was welling up with tears when I heard the cheers for him as he walked onto the first tee. And, when there has been quite a history of animosity between the American and European teams, having Phil Mickelson and Chris DiMarco both hugging Darren at the start of the match made a real statement that this tournament is going to be played in much better spirits.

Here’s to a great Ryder Cup and - hopefully - another European win!
