The Coffeehouse Book Club
Following a successful meeting with the Starbucks district manger and a couple of store managers, we are go, go, go with our book club idea! The plan is to trial it for three months and see how it goes. Starbucks will provide the venue, free coffee sampling, and a 10% discount for all food and drink purchased during the evening. We’ll co-ordinate the book club itself. We’re really excited! Starbucks will also add a poster to all of their stores in Sheffield to advertise the book club which is great.
Rachel is currently building a small team to run it all and I’ve been working on a poster and flier to advertise it. We only have until the end of this month to get everything ready, but it should be fine and is a lot of fun! Let me have any thoughts on the poster/flier by the way (click on it to see a larger version).

I like it. Not too wild about the font used in the header, though (the one with the mad serifs). Don’t ask me, though, ask Tina. She’s the designer, yes?

PS The slant might be a bit too extreme. Slants are good, but that’s a very steep angle. A milder tilt, perhaps? I think I’m going to slide off the poster, or perhaps that the reading is going to be uphill work…for members of the alipine club, perhaps?

Yeah, the font is not finalised. I’m not 100% happy with it and haven’t found the right alternative yet.
I hear you on the slant thing. I went for a slant that matched the direction of the mat in the image. (The text looks odd when at a different angle to that). I may try rotating the whole top image a bit so that I don’t need such an extreme slant. Thanks for your thoughts!

I personally don’t think you need the coffee cup picture at the top and bottom…maybe the Mosaic Sheffield logo at the bottom. As it is you have 3 coffee cups in the picture.
The rest I like…I can’t believe we’ll miss the first one by about a week!

I’ll leave the thoughts on graphic design to others, but I’ll say this: ROCK ON! It’s awesome that you guys are doing this and I’m very excited for you!
