Time for an update
Ok, I know, it’s about a week now and I’ve not added anything to my VOX. To be honest I’m struggling to know what to write. Not for lack of ideas or thoughts, but because of too many. I guess that’s better than having nothing to stay, but doesn’t necessarily leave me any better off for knowing where to start.
Maybe I’ll just update with a few things that have been happening lately. I did get to see both Superman and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest this last week, both of which I enjoyed thoroughly. I can’t wait for the next installment of Pirates - should be a lot of fun. I love films. They’re a great way to relax as well as being a really good conversation starter and shared experience. Some people are real film critics, but I’m just easily pleased.
I’ve also been enjoying a BBC program called Silent Witness. It’s along the lines of CSI (which both Rachel and I love). It’s not quite as fast paced as CSI and it two hours long (over two evenings) but I really like it. I seem to be catching Rachel’s love of murder and death. Not sure if that’s a good thing.
Starbucks update
One other interesting development is that we have had a response from Starbucks regarding our book club proposal and they’re really up for it and looking forward to getting it up and running. I will have a final meeting with the district and store managers in the next week or so to nail down the details, but basically it seems to be a go. I’m excited!
Right, I think that’s me done for now. What about you? What’s been happening in your life and part of the world?

Do keep us posted on the book club venture. It sounds like a good opportunity. Can’t say I’m quite as optimistic about the two movies, but ah well, I’m picky.

Will definitely keep you update re book club, Parke. And as to the movies, I can only repeat what I’ve already said: I’m easily pleased!

I’m anxious to hear your thoughts on Lady in the Water when you see it.

Hey Dean, I saw the trailer for this when we saw Pirates and loved your review of it. I need to check when the release date is here, but I really want to see it.

Well done Starbucks! And well done Sam. Keep us posted.
I find it is the most peaceful people who enjoy detective, crime, and spy stories the best. In real life I’m borderline pacifist; but where literature and movies and TV come in I’m a huge fan of the violent ones lol. I rather crave it. (I just don’t like too much portrayal of actual pain, physical or emotional.)
When I was in second grade I read Nancy Drew; in sixth grade it was Sherlock holmes; in high school it was Lord Peter Wimsey and Agatha Christie. Love it, love it! (Lord Peter is still my favorite though and probably always will be.)

I’ve always sort of enjoyed crime/spy/detective films and tv shows but they’ve never been something I’d go out of my way to watch. I really got into the first sevies of CSI New York though, we watched the whole series in no time at all!
I’d totally forgotten about Nancy Drew. I read some of them in my time and really enjoyed them.
How are you doing by the way, Mel?

How am I doing? I don’t know. This comment turned into a blog so check my Vox! Lol.
