Discover your talents…develop your strengths
We’re working on a couple of fliers to give to people linked with guiding them through StrengthsFinder. Let us know what you think! (The website link doesn’t work yet…so don’t try it!)

Look good from this end.
As far as your culture (overseas) is concerned I guess they line up, right? (We don’t see any unicycles here in Texas!)
July 14th, 2006 at 10:36 pm
Yeah, 1 in 2 people rides a unicycle to work here in Sheffield. It’s become a real craze. (Joke!)
To be honest, it’s just meant to be something quite fun and intriguing.
(You never know though…we could start a trend! Shaping the culture and all that!)

I like it. I like the unicycle best, it’s very whimsical.
I’m not sure about the font, is there any way to make it a little bolder?
I don’t know if it’s possible to make any other ones. What about making another one that might appeal more to people who possibly would never want to draw attention to themselves by being on stage or doing something as stand-out as riding a unicycle? From the stereotype, there are a lot of people in England who never want to be stared at.
I’m thinking photography or painting or some other kind of art, or maybe sailing or gardening or baking. Or something to do with helping others, like a nurse or doctor, or mentoring a teenager.
Of course the danger with those last three is that people will think it’s a career-guidance course, which it’s not really…and of course it’s important to keep a light-hearted feel to fit with the rest!
I don’t know. Just thinking out loud, really. I like what you’ve got! I think it’s a good direction you’re headed in.

Thanks Joe. Nice to have you stop by.
Mel - thanks for thinking out loud…much appreciated. A more artistic (rather than performer) flier is something I have also thought about. I saw a very fun pic of a young girl painting (well, making a lot of mess with paint!) which I liked and thought could also work well.
Thanks for your thoughts on the font too…I’ll have a look at that.

As I designer, I must say I like the graphics you’ve chosen. I’d like to see the one with the girl making a mess with paint too. How about some other really off the wall stuff … my mind is drawing a blank right now as to what that means but if I think of something I will let you know!

Here’s a couple of the other pics I’ve been looking at:

Definitely let me know if you think of anything really off the wall!

Sam- I like the second one (messy paint girl) the best. the others are too conventional … think crazy and way outside the box so that when people look at the image they laugh (get a good feeling) and yet this funny thing is obviously someone’s strength. … does that make sense? Like the unicycle for example … it’s offbeat and yet it takes talent to ride one. Maybe you show one of those circus guys balancing all that stuff while riding a unicycle. You know … take it to the next level. Or maybe show a woman twisted like a pretzel … ok now the ideas are flowing …. does this help?
(this is just one idea of course. And it’s by no means the only direction!)
I am headed out to breakfast. We’ll talk more later!

Thanks Tina! Your thoughts are definitely helpful.

Sam, I think the photos you have chosen look great. I can’t wait to see the site. Thanks for sharing what you’re doing. I agree with Mel about the font. How about a soccer picture? Your people over there seem to be really into soccer or cricket.

Eric, thanks for stopping by and thanks for your ideas!
Tina, what are your thoughts on the font? Any suggestions?
July 17th, 2006 at 5:29 pm
Of the two you’ve posted I like the unicycle one a little over the first. Of the links you gave for other images I like the second one as well, with the messy girl.
The one thing that I kept asking is whether or not the images of kids would make it feel like this is something for kids.
I’m not a designer though…

I’m with Tina and Jason; as far as painting goes, the messier and more smile-making the better! Like the unicycle, the second girl painting gives a care-free feeling.

is that first little guy you as a kid? Just guessing from the spiked hair…ha ha ha!
i agree with tina…i like the girl with paint all over herself!

Hi Sam -
The font is fine. But, maybe a san serif font with less kerning might look good too. I do like your use of bold and regular face fonts.
Can you send me some options to look at? I will know it when I see it!

Sam, so are you going to use the Strengths Quest version of StrengthsFinder that you linked? What had you choose that as opposed to some other version? We’re looking at utilizing Strengths this fall and so I am working through the different options. Thanks.
July 17th, 2006 at 10:08 pm
Deana, the pic isn’t of me…I wasn’t that cool when I was that age!
Tina, I’ll email you some options tomorrow.
Jason, going with StrenghtsQuest isn’t a permanent decision necessarily. I do like the additional online content that you do get with it though. The personalised report is comprehensive and comes with lots of suggestions for putting your strengths into action. It also means that I can buy lots of codes in bulk and then pass them on to people. Ideally, doing a mix of online codes with StrengthsQuest and using the codes in the books or the Awaken manual is probably best as they’ll be some people who’ll prefer having a book to work through and others who’ll prefer the online format. Hope that helps?!

Mate, they are hot!
I been doing the strengths finder with a group here in Australia and it’s going pretty well.
Is that you on the bike?
Taking up a new sport after the world cup?
July 18th, 2006 at 1:42 pm
Sam, do you know how to get a hold of the red books that had the code in it that we were given at ETHOS? Or was that just a one time thing?

Hi Eric, you can contact Drew Kellems, he should be able to help you out:

I have a quick question? I’ve been asked by a client to provide a Strength Finder assessment to 80 of their people. They could complete an assessment the day before and I could enter their response on line in the time I have before I would produce the reports. Do I have to buy 80 copies of Now Discover your stengths to get the codes or is there any other way?????
December 31st, 2006 at 6:28 pm
Joseph, I have email you directly about your question. Thanks for stopping by.

I actually have the same question as Joseph.
