Books, books, books
The people who know me well know that I love books. I love reading and find it very relaxing. I am able to read quickly as well as having several books on the go at the same time. I can’t remember the last time I didn’t have a book on the go. Anyway, as a big reader, a lot of people ask me about what I’m reading, so I thought I ‘d just share the books that I’m reading at the moment and the books that I’m planning to read shortly.
Currently Reading:
- Freakonomics - A Rogue economist explores the hidden side of everything - Steven Levitt & Stephen Dubner
- Chasing Daylight - Seize the power of every moment - Erwin McManus
- The Secret Message of Jesus - Uncovering the truth that could change everything - Brian Mclaren
Planned Reading:
- Integrity - The courage to meet the demands of reality - Henry Cloud
- The Story Factor - Inspiration, influence and persuasion through the art of storytelling - Annette Simmons
- Experience Economy - Work is theatre and every business a stage - Joseph Pine
Have you read any of these? What did you think? And what are you reading at the moment?

Great list…I started reading “Freakonomics” and then gave it to my father-in-law and haven’t seen it since!! Right now I’m re-reading “Coffehouse Gospel” by Turner.

Good to hear from you Eric! How’s things? Looks like your opening VOX night was a blast.
I read The Coffeehouse Gospel last year and really enjoyed it.

I’ve heard good things about freakonomics.
I read seizing your divine moment with a men’s group years back. Any chance you know how different chasing daylight might be from it?
I finished Secret Message last night. Definitely an interesting like most of Mclaren’s work, more thought provoking towards the end i thought. There’s an extra chapter and study guide you can download off the website as well, if you’re reading along with someone else.
Right now I’m going through divine conspiracy, morph, angels&demons, and the prevailing church.

I’m really enjoying Freakonomics…definitely worth a read.
Chasing Daylight is essentially the same material but I think there is some updated language and stories.
I’m actually re-reading Secret Message. I enjoy the way Brian McLaren makes me think. This is probably my favourite book of his to date.
How’s Angels and Demons?

I read Angels and Demons and liked it, but I thought it’s ending was a little bit of a let down. Brown also tricks you into thinking that the church is the good guys in this one until the end:)

Now there’s a surprise!

I’ve never read or watched da vinci code, but I really liked Angels & Demons. It did trash the church a bit, but mostly I thought it revealed a lot about how messed up humanity is. I can tell why people are so caught up with his books now, he’s a very good fiction writer!
