England vs. Brazil (very funny!)

It is just before the England v Brazil match. Ronaldinho goes into the Brazilian changing room to find all his team-mates looking a bit glum.

“What’s up?” he asks.

“Well, we’re having trouble getting motivated for this game. We know it’s important but it’s only England. They’re **** and we can’t be bothered.”

Ronaldinho looks at them and says, “Well, I reckon I can beat them by myself - you lads go down the pub.”

So Ronaldinho goes out to play England by himself and the rest of the Brazilian team go off for a few jars. After a few pints they wonder how the game is going, so they get the landlord to put the teletext on. A big cheer goes up as the screen reads “Brazil 1 - England 0 (Ronaldinho 10 minutes)”. He is beating England all by himself!

Anyway, a few pints later and the game is forgotten until someone remembers, “It must be full time now, let’s see how he got on.” They put the teletext on. “Result from the Stadium ‘Brazil 1 (Ronaldinho 10 minutes) - England 1 (Lampard 89 minutes).” They can’t believe it; he has single-handedly got a draw against England!!

They rush back to the Stadium to congratulate Ronaldinho. They find him in the dressing room, still in his gear, sitting with his head in his hands. He refuses to look at them. “I’ve let you down, I’ve let you down.”

“Don’t be daft; you got a draw against England, all by yourself. And they only scored at the very, very end!”

“No, no, I have, I’ve let you down…  I got sent off after 12 minutes.”

haha… did you come up with this one? good job.

congrats, you guys are through to the next round. we caught a bit of the game while we were out having lunch with mike harris and octavio.

  • Sam. Sam.

I didn’t come up with that (I would never mock my own team in such ways!!)

We’re glad to be through, just still not playing very well. I shall hopefully catch some of the Brazil game tonight, though it should be a pretty easy game for you.

That’s hilarious! Well both of you made it farther than the U.S. I guess it’s one of those sports we’ll never be good at, like skiing.

haha… but you did mock it, you put the joke on your blog… lol.

we’re getting ready to watch the game. we already have the TV on.

danielo - soccer is sort of new to the US, give it a few years. i’ve never seen america do anything mediocre for too long.

We’ll it’s good to be able to laugh at yourself now and then!

I’ll definitely be laughing at Brazil though if you guys were to lose to Japan!! C’mon Japan…you can do it!

Sorry but I can’t laugh right now. I’ve got no sense of humor left after the USA-Ghana match this morning. And no, I don’t want to talk about it.

It looks like tonight I’ll be eating fish and chips and painting a large St. George’s Cross on paper to stick up on the living room wall.

Oh dear, Mel. And I’m guessing if some baffoon was to say something like, “it’s only a game”, that really wouldn’t help?!!

Well fish and chips with the English flag isn’t a bad way to move on with your life, post USA!!

    Sorry…feel free to punch me!

    mmmmmmm fish and chips………

Saying “It’s only a game” doesn’t help at all, but I just got an email from the British boyfriend and that helps a lot. So I’m feeling much better about being relegated to the English cheering section. :-)

    Bring on the malted vinegar!

  • Sam. Sam.

I assume you mean promoted to the English cheering section?!

Oh, guess what? After all that talk of fish and chips, I rang Rachel up on her way back from pilates yesterday and got her to pick up fish and chips! Can’t beat English fish and chips.

And after all that I didn’t get any. There’s no place in walking distance to get them and my roommate (with the car) had to take her boyfriend to a job interview. Boo! I improvised, though. I bought french fries from the gyro place and then took them around the corner to the Indian place and said “could I have some curry sauce to put on my fries, please?” They laughed very hard, and then sold me some curry-sauce-no-rice-no-chicken. They’re nice guys and I go in so often that they know me.

    That’s hilarious.

Way to go, England! And Rooney has proved that he’s still a force to be reckoned with. Who will they play next? Or don’t we know yet?

  • Sam. Sam.

Yeah, a good win. And Rooney really started to be getting back to his best in the second half…perfect timing for the rest of the World Cup. Great to see Beckham find his range from free kicks too!

We’ll play Portugal or Holland next Saturday…we’ll know who in about 90 minutes.
