3-0 down and still time to concede more!
We’ll I’ve just watched the Czech Republic put their 3rd goal past the USA. It’s not looking good for you guys on t’other side of the pond. Looks like you’ll all need to get behind England instead (if you haven’t already)!! Considering the USA is ranked 5th in the world according to FIFA, it’s been a bit of a dismal performance…what’s gone wrong?!

Everybody knows that the FIFA rankings are “rubbish.” England’s ranked tenth at the moment. Now, really!
Personally, though of course I support the US side all the way, I wasn’t expecting them to have a stellar performance in the Finals. However, 0-3 is worse than I expected. It’s a bit embarrassing; so far it’s the bigest point differential put up on the boards, and we’ve harder teams to play yet to come. Come on boys, let’s go! We’ll pull through! We’ve just got to win one of these matches.
The saddest thing is that evening in Great Britain is daytime here in the states, so all the games are while I’m at work. I have to watch the ones that are re-aired in the evenings and I already know the outcomes (I found a pop-up window from the BBC that self-updates every few minutes with live scores). And I don’t have cable so I watch the matches at a sports bar near-by…there are a few die-hard soccer fans who, during the world cup, wrestle the big screen tv away from the baseball fans.
I have a British boyfriend so I’ll have to support England once the US is knocked out; that is, if England lasts longer!
I’ve heard there’s been much comment over the flying of the St. George’s Cross in Downing Street; really! If he didn’t they’d be saying he was no fun at all and had no pride in sporting events. Everyone’s a critic. But I must say the British parliamentarians are much funnier and wittier critics than American Congressmen.

England’s one goal was scored by the other team right? Just thought that might be important to mention
I suppose we don’t have anything to be excited about yet. Here’s hoping for a better game this weekend!

tomorrow brazil will show everyone how the game is played =)

Did I mention on someone’s post a few days ago that I bleed the Red, White and Black of Trinidad and Tobago. I’m sure many who read that were wondering where in the world that was. I’m sure eveyone in Sweden and a few other places know a bit more about TnT now.
We’re not ready to show anyone how the game is played yet, but some moments have to be savored. Go Shaka!!!

Mel - I didn’t know you had a British boyfriend…have you been keeping this from us?!
Chad - we’re so good we don’t even need to score ourselves to win games! (Ok, I admit it, we might need to start scoring some goals ourselves if we’re going to stay in the competition!)
Niza - I’m sure they will. What’s the deal with Ronaldo though? Has he been eating too many pies?!
Keith - I’m hoping we bring T&T right back down to earth on Thursday! (Great result against Sweden though)

Chad: To quote my British friends collectively (I don’t really know enough to form my own opinion, it’s hard to watch international matches in the states): “England’s got a great side if that namby-pamby Swede would let them play the game aggressively. And what’s all this talk of puting Rooney in for the match against T&T? Ok, maybe put him in for a little bit as a warm-up for the matches to come. But they don’t need him for this match. Look at the talent out on that field. If only the wretched Swede didn’t constantly look to defense and play the game so conservatively.”
Niza: Well, yeah. Of course. I mean, Brazil. Fantastic side! I feel badly for Croatia (where part of my family is from originally). They’re not a bad team but they’re in a difficult group, and this is not an easy openning match for them. The luck of the draw. Here’s an article you might enjoy, about how all the street kids in India are huge Brazil supporters:

Keith: I know where T&T is.
And I did before they made the World Cup…but then, I had to memorize the location of every country in the world for an international business class at one point.

Sam: No…it’s relatively new.
His name is Phil and his blog is on my sidebar under “Further Afield.”

Nice summary of the England team, Mel! It doesn’t look like Rooney will be playing…doctors aren’t assessing him next until Friday (we play next on Thursday). It looks like the usual media hype and/or England playing mind games with T&T!

What happened, Niza?! It was a win, but nothing spectacular! They certainly didn’t look invincible. World Cup is England’s for the taking! (Ok, maybe I’m getting a bit carried away…especially as we were very average in our first game!)

we still won sucka… hehehe =)

Iknow, I know!
By the way, is my VOX displaying properly for you?
June 13th, 2006 at 10:57 pm
i’m not sure what you mean, but it looks fine to me.

Watch for the boys in green and gold who are gonna sneak in under eveyones noses and take home some trophy…
Speaking of rankings…we’re ranked last for this world cup…42nd I think…we’ve beaten the european champs, the asian champs, the number 3 team…and if ronaldo keeps eating pies, we might even knock over the number 1 team
C’mon Aussie!!

Sam,
C’mon, I know you didn’t question Niza about Brazil after mighty England’s performance. Let me get this straight - England and USA have each scored no goals, Brazil has one, and Australia scored three in ten minutes after going 80 minutes with none. And you are STILL talking smack? You sound like an American! Stop the insanity.
Niza,
You cannot let Australia stay on the field against Brazil - we’ll never get Russ calmed down. For the good of us all, take care of business.
You guys are sure fun to watch. You’re all finding out the great virtue of competetion - no more making fun of me! Competetion is the ultimate strength. Hehehe!
