A great day
Yesterday was so much fun. Dean and Tina came down to where we were staying at Newport Coast with Jason, Dave, and Joleen. From there they took us down to Laguna Beach where we wandered round a cool art gallery before having lunch at a place called BJ’s. We came out stuffed, and then had a brief wander onto the beach before heading up to Santa Monica to see the Ashes and Snow nomadic photographic exhibit. Some of the girls from The Spring which Dean and Tina lead kindly queued up for several hours to get us all tickets and we were pretty much able to go straight in. It was amazing. I loved the whole environment they have created and the photographs are breathtaking. You really should check out their website. As you can probably tell from my blog header image, I love elephants and much of the photography involves elephants which is perhaps partly why I enjoyed it so much.
After we were though the exhibit we went to eat at - check this out - the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company! (Apparently a chain of these restaurants have emerged after the movie Forrest Gump.) It was great to hang out with some of the crew from The Spring. We’d “met” many of them online, but it was so good to see them face to face. Time went way to quickly, as it always does when enjoying good company and having great conversations. Thankfully we’re staying in the same hotel as some of them during Origins though…can’t wait!
Well that’s enough of my words…here’s some pictures from our day:
This is not what it looks like. The drinks were shared by the whole table. Honestly!

Hello Rachel and Sam,
I recognise the scenery - I was at Laguna Beach in 2004 when I went to Saddleback (wonderful).
I have a colleague and his wife over for Origins - they flew yesterday (Paul and Karen) - and I want to be there too.
Have a great time.

I’m not sure what finally won me over. Maybe it was the tabs? Anyways. All the cool kids are doing it.
It’s been several days now. I’m still exploring some of the other features. Downloading it on my work computer is what made it official. Hey, I’m the young’un here; I have to bring some kind of rebel new technology into the office, right?
