Cafe Theology

I’m just coming to the end of a book called Café Theology at the moment by a guy called Michael Lloyd. I’ve really enjoyed it. It’s very easy to read and yet has a real depth to it. I think it would also be a great book to give new followers of the Way as it would provide some really healthy theological foundations. It’s highly recommended by Tom (NT) Wright (which is what drew me to read it in the first place).

The chapter titles are as follows:

  • Creation
  • Fall
  • Providence
  • Incarnation
  • Atonement
  • Resurrection and Ascension
  • Spirit
  • Trinity
  • The Final Victory of God
  • The Church

I think I have most appreciated the way in which the author makes these doctrines accessible and relevant to the lives we actually live. So much theology is theology for the sake of theology rather than geared towards shaping our lives and empowering us to live missional lives. So yeah, definitely worth a read.
